The Texas Rangers picked up a win at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, topping the New York Yankees, 4-3. On the mound for Texas was right-hander Nolan Ryan. He played a principal role in the triumph. Francisco Cordero, credited with the win in relief, is now 2-2. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1 innings. Akinori Otsuka got the save, his 4th in 9 chances.
Ruben Sierra chipped in a run-scoring single for Texas in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, the center fielder had 3 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 2 singles, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
