Spahn Spins Gem, Atlanta Wins
|
Despite the rain, the fans at Turner Field enjoyed a good ballgame.
Warren Spahn pitched a gem to lead Atlanta to victory over the San Diego Padres, 2-1. The save was credited to Craig Kimbrel, his 22nd.
Spahn subdued the San Diego offense. The Atlanta left-hander allowed a mere 3 hits over 8 innings, while fanning 9. He issued no free passes. His season record goes to 5-11 with the win.
"Warren is a cool customer," said Atlanta manager .
The Braves now have a mark of 59-47.
