Despite a great performance by Minnesota right fielder Tony Oliva, the Chicago White Sox defeated the Twins by the score of 9-7 at Target Field. Oliva went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Ed Walsh earned the win. Walter Johnson, who is tied for 7th in the AL in quality starts with 16, took the loss for Minnesota. Chicago now owns a record of 51-55.

Chicago used the clutch hitting of Johnny Mostil to capture the win. The center fielder drilled a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to give the White Sox the lead, 5-3. For the game, Mostil had 1 single and 1 double in 2 at-bats.

"Anytime we get it going, it puts a smile on my face," said Mostil.
