Colorado registered a win at Coors Field by beating the Pittsburgh Pirates, 9-3. Pitcher Pedro Astacio was one reason why the Rockies triumphed. In 7.2 innings, Astacio surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. Today's win puts Colorado at 37-67, while Pittsburgh falls to 58-45.
Larry Walker had a big 2-run double for the Rockies in the bottom of the first inning. With Colorado leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a changeup from 37-year old right-handed pitcher Babe Adams and swatted a double to right. It was his 25th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Rockies ahead, 4-1.
"I thought Pedro threw the ball well across the board," said Colorado manager .
