Rangers Win Squeaker, 1-0, Over Athletics
|
Behind an impressive start by Fergie Jenkins, Texas beat Oakland, 1-0. Texas is 4th in the American League Western Division with a record of 41-62.
The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Milton Bradley came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Oakland pitcher Eddie Plank, he hit a 3-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Texas on top, 1-0.
Jenkins attributed the win to his team's "dogged determination."
