|
The Boston Red Sox picked up a win at Rogers Centre, topping the Toronto Blue Jays, 6-2. On the mound for Boston was right-hander Cy Young. He played a principal role in the triumph. In 7.2 innings, Young surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 0. He allowed 2 runs. With the win, the Red Sox hiked their record to 54-48.
Boston used the hitting of Carl Yastrzemski to pick up the win. The left fielder clubbed a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put the Red Sox on top, 3-2. For the game, Yastrzemski had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
