Twins Pin 3-2 Loss on Cleveland
|
The Minnesota Twins knocked off the Cleveland Indians, 3-2, in American League action at Target Field. Minnesota pitcher and Venezuela, native Johan Santana had an outstanding performance. The winning pitcher was Santana, now 5-9. He tossed 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 8. Joe Nathan picked up the save for Minnesota, his 13th of the year.
Sam Rice had a big run-scoring double for the Twins in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Minnesota leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from CC Sabathia and swatted a double to right. It was his 16th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Twins ahead, 3-1.
"Really, really impressed with the way Johan competed and executed pitches," said Minnesota manager .
The last-place Twins are now 41-59, the Indians 53-48.
