Rockies Score Late to Win, 5-2
|
The Washington Nationals could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Pascual Perez into a win. Instead, the Colorado Rockies prevailed, 5-2. Perez threw 7.1 innings of 6-hit ball. The win went to Taylor Buchholz in relief, making him now 4-4. Tim Burke took the loss for Washington. Picking up his 18th save was 25-year old right-handed pitcher Huston Street.
The Rockies benefited from a costly error in the bottom of the eighth. With Todd Helton at bat and Colorado trailing 2-1, the Washington miscue allowed Colorado to plate 2 and take the lead, 3-2.
Helton called the win "an overall solid one."
Colorado is now 36-65, Washington 42-58.
