The Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Atlanta Braves, 4-3, in National League action at Turner Field. Philadelphia pitcher Aaron Nola had a standout performance. Philadelphia is in first place in the National League Eastern Division with a record of 55-43.
Philadelphia went up, 4-3, on John Kruk's 13th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Kruk hit in the top of the eighth, left Atlanta pitcher John Smoltz shaking his head.
"Aaron giving us the start that he did was huge," said Philadelphia manager .
