Benes Delivers 6-1 Win
The San Diego Padres went home winners at Petco Park, thanks in large part to starter Andy Benes. Benes stifled the New York Mets, enabling San Diego to grab the 6-1 win. San Diego, now 57-40, holds down first place in the National League Western Division.

Benes was effective for San Diego, seldom allowing the Mets to square up a pitch. The right-hander tossed 108 pitches over 8 innings. He limited New York to just 1 run on 3 hits.
