Blue Jays Win at Home, 5-4
|
The Toronto Blue Jays and Texas Rangers obliged fans looking for a good time.
Despite a fine performance by first baseman Rafael Palmeiro, the Texas Rangers lost to the Toronto Blue Jays, 5-4. Palmeiro belted 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Roy Halladay earned the win for Toronto. He lasted 7.2 innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 7. With the win, he raised his record to 13-5.
Making an impact for the home team was Joe Carter. In the bottom of the sixth, the 26-year old left fielder had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. That made the score 5-1, Blue Jays.
"Anytime we get it going, it puts a smile on my face," said Carter.
The Blue Jays, at 56-41, sit in second place in the American League Eastern Division.
