Dodgers Beat Visiting Padres, 6-4
|
San Diego right fielder Dave Winfield was sensational. He was 4 for 4 with a home run and 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Los Angeles beat the Padres, 6-4. Los Angeles reliever Burleigh Grimes was the winner. His record is now 2-1. The losing pitcher was Jake Peavy. Takashi Saito closed out the game, earning his 23rd save.
Davey Lopes contributed to the Los Angeles win with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the second baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
"Enjoyed this one," Lopes told the Los Angeles Chronicle. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
The Dodgers win now puts them at 48-49.
