Indians Drop White Sox, 7-3
|
The Cleveland Indians beat the Chicago White Sox, 7-3, at Progressive Field. Larry Doby went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times. The 28-year old center fielder was a menace to Chicago all day. Corey Kluber got the win, improving to 10-8. He worked 9 innings, giving up 3 runs on 11 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 1. Cleveland is now 51-45, Chicago 45-52.
Bobby Avila hit a bases-clearing triple off Eddie Cicotte in the bottom of the fourth, which put the Indians in front, 4-1. Avila had 1 single, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 2 for 4.
"I like the vibe in the clubhouse after a win," said Avila. "It sure beats the alternative."
