Musial Hits 2 home runs in Cardinals Win
|
The St. Louis Cardinals beat the Milwaukee Brewers, 7-2, at Miller Park. St. Louis right fielder Stan Musial led the way. He hit 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. St. Louis pitcher Bob Gibson got the win, upping his record to 12-4. Pete Vuckovich got the loss. The win for the Cardinals lifted their record to 55-41.
Musial had a key at-bat for St. Louis in the top of the second. With a runner on 1st, he hit a 2-run home run. It was his 9th home run of the season and gave St. Louis an early 2-0 lead.
"Confidence breeds confidence," St. Louis manager said, "and confidence breeds success."
