Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Reds
|
The Cincinnati Reds picked up a win at Great American Ball Park, knocking off the Pittsburgh Pirates, 4-3, in 11 innings. Starting pitcher Johnny Cueto played a key role in the conquest. Rawly Eastwick was the winner in relief. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Deacon Phillippe. Cincinnati bumps their record to 45-49 with the win.
The Reds got a clutch hit from second baseman Brandon Phillips. In the bottom of the 11th, he hit a run-scoring single to center, to win the game for the Reds.
"It took some blood and sweat, but we got what we were after," said Reds manager .
