|
Miami starter Sandy Alcantara pitched effectively against the New York Mets at Citi Field. The right-hander led his team to a win, 2-1. Alcantara got the win, improving to 7-8. He gave up 6 hits and walked 1 over 8 innings. He allowed 1 run. Earning his 17th save of the year was Bryan Harvey.
Giancarlo Stanton had a big solo home run for the Marlins in the top of the fourth inning. With Miami leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a sinker from Tom Seaver, who is tied for 10th in the NL with a 7.9 K/9 rate, and punished it. The result was his 14th home run of the season, which put the Marlins on top, 2-0.
"Ball felt good coming out of my hand the whole night," said Alcantara.
The Marlins are now 39-54, while the Mets fall to 52-41.
