The Chicago Cubs had to reckon with Cincinnati Reds hurler Don Gullett. Gullett, who is tied for 4th in the NL in wins with 11, overwhelmed the opposition in the 7-0 Reds triumph. The Reds are now 43-49, while the Cubs fall to 45-47.

The tide might have turned in the top of the sixth, had not Don Gullett made a big pitch. With a runner on 1st and the Cubs trailing 2-0, he retired Anthony Rizzo when the Chicago first baseman struck out.
