Phillies Strike Down Brewers, 10-3
|
The Philadelphia Phillies overcame a good performance by Milwaukee first baseman Cecil Cooper to knock off Milwaukee, 10-3, at Citizens Bank Park. Cooper went 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2. The winning pitcher was Chris Short. He's now 2-0. He went 7 innings, allowing 2 runs on 6 hits for the Phillies. The loss lowers the Milwaukee record to 5-4.
In the bottom of the third, 32-year old left fielder Lefty O'Doul hit a run-scoring double. The 2nd double of the season for the Philadelphia designated hitter put the Phillies on top, 2-1.
"The boys came out and just played their butts off," said Philadelphia manager .
