Timely Hitting Gets Houston Late Win
|
The Houston Astros beat the Texas Rangers, 11-3, in 16 innings. Houston second baseman Craig Biggio, in particular, had a fine performance. He went 4 for 8 with a home run, 2 doubles, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. The Astros improved to 47-46.
The game was all tied up in the top of the 16th, until Biggio delivered big-time for Houston, stroking a dramatic 2-run single off Darren O'Day. The game-changing hit put the Astros on top, 5-3.
"This was a tremendous character win for our team," said Houston manager .
