The Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Philadelphia Phillies, 6-3. Pittsburgh pitcher and Tipton, Indiana, native Babe Adams led the way. Pittsburgh raised its record to 50-38 with the win.

Making an impact for Pittsburgh was designated hitter Roberto Clemente. He drilled a double off Pete Alexander in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, Clemente was 1-3 with a double and a walk.

"I like the roll we're on right now," said Clemente after the game.
