Los Angeles overcame a heroic effort from Gerrit Cole to down Houston, 3-2, in 12 innings. The Houston pitcher threw 8.0 innings of 3-hit ball. Los Angeles reliever Francisco Rodriguez snagged the win, upping his record to 4-3. Brad Lidge shouldered the loss. The Angels improved to 33-55.

Los Angeles got a clutch hit from Mike Trout. The center fielder launched a solo home run in the bottom of the 12th inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a kill shot.

"That game was intense," Trout said.
