The Washington Nationals picked up a win at Nationals Park, taking down the Chicago Cubs, 4-2. Starting pitcher Bill Gullickson was a big reason why. Tyler Clippard got the save, the 16th for him this season. The last-place Nationals have a record of 33-54.
Gary Carter, the Washington catcher, contributed a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fourth inning to make the score 2-1, Nationals. For the game, Carter was 2 for 3 with 2 singles and a walk.
Carter told a Washington Observer reporter that he was "delighted" with the win.
