San Diego pitcher Jake Peavy had a large part in his team beating the Cincinnati Reds, 9-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Peavy, now 4-5, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 8, walking 4, and allowing 2 runs. At 50-35, the Padres are currently second in the National League Western Division.
