The Los Angeles Angels picked up a win at U.S. Cellular Field, taking down the Chicago White Sox, 9-3. Starting pitcher Andy Messersmith was a big reason why. The victory puts Los Angeles at 31-52.

Los Angeles used a well-timed hit by Bobby Grich to capture the win. The second baseman socked a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Angels ahead, 3-2. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"Confidence breeds confidence," Los Angeles manager said, "and confidence breeds success."
