Indians Plunge Past Los Angeles, 12-11
|
The Cleveland Indians defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers, 12-11, in 18 innings. Lou Boudreau played a big role. Boudreau slugged 2 home runs, while adding 6 RBI and scoring twice for the Indians in the win. Sam McDowell notched the win in relief. The left-hander allowed 2 runs on 4 hits in 3.2 innings. His record now sits at 1-0. The Indians now have a record of 45-40.
Cleveland used a clutch hit from Albert Belle to get the win. The left fielder drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the 18th inning to put the Indians ahead, 12-9. It was his only hit in 9 at-bats, but it was a doozy.
"This game showed the grit and grind of our guys," said Boudreau.
