Slumping Rockies Lose 9th Straight
|
Starting pitcher Pedro J Martinez was a major factor in the 4-2 Washington Nationals triumph over the Colorado Rockies. John Wetteland, credited with the win in relief, is now 2-1. He allowed no runs on no hits in 0.1 innings. The Nationals, at 31-53, sit in last place in the National League Eastern Division.
Washington got a knockout punch from Brad Wilkerson. The left fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
"We need to get rid of the bad mojo," said Martinez. "Maybe this win will help."
