San Diego right-hander Andy Benes pitched his team to victory over the Cincinnati Reds at Petco Park. The final score was 9-2. The win hiked the San Diego record to 48-35.

Adrian Gonzalez had a big 2-run home run for the Padres in the bottom of the third inning. With San Diego leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he got a slider from Mario Soto and swatted a home run to left-center. It was his 5th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Padres ahead, 4-1.
