Pirates Lasso 4-2 Victory
|
Pittsburgh and New York duked it out and the Pirates came out victorious.
The Pittsburgh Pirates tallied a win at PNC Park, throttling the New York Mets, 4-2. Starting pitcher John Candelaria was a big reason for his team's success. Pittsburgh bumps their record to 44-37 with the win.
Jason Kendall had a big 2-run home run for the Pirates in the bottom of the second inning. With Pittsburgh leading 2-0 and a runner on 3rd, he got a changeup from 30-year old right-handed pitcher Jacob deGrom and swatted a home run to left. It was his 6th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Pirates ahead, 4-0.
"It was a real good effort by John," said Pittsburgh manager . "I loved the way he bore down."
