Bregman Earns Praise as Astros Topple Tigers, 8-4
Houston played host to Detroit at Minute Maid Park.

The Houston Astros defeated the Detroit Tigers, 8-4. Doing his part was third baseman Alex Bregman, who was 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 4. Don Wilson got credit for the win, improving to 5-6. He allowed 4 runs on 9 hits in 6.2 innings.

Bregman contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Houston in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 1-0, Bregman took a slider from Denny McLain and stroked the home run to left. His 11th home run of the season allowed the Astros to leap in front, 3-1.

Bregman said afterward that he was glad to help his team win.

The Astros raised their record to 40-41.
