Toronto Topples Chicago, 6-2
|
Toronto parlayed a decent outing from starter Roy Halladay into a solid win over the Chicago White Sox. The final score was 6-2. Toronto, at 45-37, holds down second place in the American League Eastern Division.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. had a big 2-run home run for the Blue Jays in the bottom of the first inning. With Toronto leading 2-0 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a knuckleball from 33-year old right-handed pitcher Eddie Cicotte and punished it. The result was his 12th home run of the season, which put the Blue Jays on top, 4-0.
Guerrero Jr. told a Toronto Citizen reporter that the win made him feel "exuberant."
