Yankees Win Another One, 5-2
|
The New York Yankees rode a solid performance from 23-year-old starting pitcher Stan Bahnsen to a win, beating the Boston Red Sox, 5-2, at Yankee Stadium. Bahnsen picked up the win for New York, going 6.1 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 7-6. Mariano Rivera earned the save for New York.
Lou Gehrig hit a bases-clearing triple off Cy Young in the bottom of the second, which put the Yankees in front, 3-2. Gehrig had 1 single, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 2 for 4.
"It's fun coming to the ballpark," said Bahnsen, "when you're on this kind of roll."
