Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the St. Louis Cardinals and Colorado Rockies.

A good performance from shortstop Ozzie Smith helped the St. Louis Cardinals defeat the Colorado Rockies, 6-4. Smith went 3 for 5 with 3 doubles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Cardinals. Al Hrabosky earned his 16th save in 16 chances.

It could have been a different outcome for St. Louis, had it not been for Yadier Molina, the 29-year old catcher . Molina contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put St. Louis up, 4-2.

"We're leading the horse race," said Molina. "But we're not yet in the home stretch."

The Cardinals win now puts them at 44-36.
