Brewers Beat Visiting Nationals, 5-3
|
The Milwaukee Brewers took on the Washington Nationals at Miller Park.
The 5-3 Milwaukee win over Washington was due in large part to Cecil Cooper. The Brewers first baseman went 2-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Rollie Fingers closed the game out for Milwaukee, earning his 16th save.
Cooper had a timely hit for Milwaukee in the bottom of the sixth. With Milwaukee trailing 3-2, he turned a 2-0 fastball into a 2-run home run. It was his 6th home run of the season, making it 4-3, Milwaukee.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Cooper told the Milwaukee Chronicle.
The third-place Brewers lifted their record to 43-36.
