The Seattle Mariners got a marvelous performance from pitcher Felix Hernandez. The right-hander kept the Los Angeles offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 6-2 Seattle victory at Safeco Field. In 7 innings, Hernandez surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs. With the win, Seattle lifts its record to 4-4.

The Mariners got a big at-bat from first baseman Alvin Davis. For the game, Davis went 1 for 3 with a home run. In the bottom of the third, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Seattle a 1-0 lead.

Davis told a Seattle Observer reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
