The Chicago White Sox faced a tough opponent in Baltimore pitcher Barney Pelty, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Oriole Park at Camden Yards by a final score of 6-5. Pelty went 5 innings and allowed no runs. Reliever Chris Sale picked up the win. His record improves to 1-1. Mike Mussina took the loss. The White Sox saw their win-loss record go to 37-42. At the same time, the Orioles fell to 34-43.

Chicago used a clutch at-bat from Frank E Thomas to capture the win. The first baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the White Sox ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

Thomas told a Chicago Gazette reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
