Marlins Topple Phillies with Late Rally
|
Philadelphia wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Zack Wheeler, falling to the Miami Marlins, 6-3. Wheeler threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. Miami, at 32-45, occupies 4th place in the National League Eastern Division.
Gary Sheffield provided a timely hit. The Miami right fielder delivered a 2-run triple in the top of the eighth inning to put the Marlins on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in the game, but he made it count.
"I know we have our doubters," said Philadelphia manager . "But I still have high hopes for this team."
