Starting pitcher Jim Palmer fulfilled his part of the bargain, helping the Baltimore Orioles stymie the Chicago White Sox, 4-1. The 'W' lifts Baltimore's record to 34-42.
Palmer subdued the Chicago offense. The Baltimore right-hander allowed a mere 4 hits over 8 innings, while fanning 9. His season record goes to 7-7 with the win.
