Freeman Powers Braves to 9-6 Win
|
The Atlanta Braves beat the Washington Nationals, 9-6, at Nationals Park. Freddie Freeman, in particular, was impressive. He was 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. At 41-35, the Braves find themselves in third place in the National League Eastern Division.
In the top of the third, 33-year old center fielder Sam Jethroe hit a 2-run home run. The 3rd home run of the season for the Atlanta designated hitter put the Braves on top, 2-0.
Jethroe said afterward that he was glad to help his team win.
