At the rate they were hitting, the New York Yankees hardly needed a gem from their starting pitcher. They got one anyway, pulling away from the Baltimore Orioles in the 13-1 victory. Ron Guidry played a major role in the New York win. The win puts the Yankees at 44-31, while the Orioles drop to 33-42.

The Orioles had their hands full with Guidry, who overpowered Baltimore hitters while racking up 10 strikeouts.
