The Miami Marlins beat the New York Mets, 5-1, at Marlins Ballpark. J.T. Realmuto, in particular, was impressive. He was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Dontrelle Willis was the winning pitcher. Over 7.1 innings, he allowed 1 run on 8 hits, with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts. The Marlins improved to 31-44.
Realmuto contributed a big hit, a 2-run double, for Miami in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 1-0, Realmuto took a fastball from Craig Swan and stroked the double to left. His 12th double of the season allowed the Marlins to leap in front, 2-1.
Postgame, Marlins manager complimented Realmuto. "No question about it. Real was terrific."
