The St. Louis Cardinals and Philadelphia Phillies completed their game despite the inclement weather.

St. Louis Cardinals starter Bob Gibson pitched effectively against the Philadelphia Phillies at Busch Stadium. The right-hander spearheaded his team's 5-3 win. Gibson, now 8-4, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 3 runs.
