Yankees Win with Late Heroics
|
The New York Yankees picked up a win at Yankee Stadium, taking down the Baltimore Orioles, 5-4, in 10 innings. On the mound for New York was right-hander Stan Bahnsen. He played a central role in the triumph. After today's action, New York sits at 43-31; Baltimore slips to 33-41.
The decisive blow was delivered by Lou Gehrig in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a run-scoring double off 37-year old right-handed pitcher Stu Miller to win the game for New York. The home crowd went nuts.
"It's great to see the crowd jacked up," Gehrig said.
