Mets Tack 8-1 Loss on Miami
|
Lenny Dykstra helped his team muscle past the Miami Marlins, 8-1. In the game, the New York center fielder went 2 for 3 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2. David Cone picked up the win, lifting his record to 9-3 on the season. He struck out 5 and walked 2 in 7 innings, while yielding 1 run. With the win over Miami, the Mets improved to 42-32.
Jeff McNeil was 1-5. He drove in 2 runs for New York. The 27-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the fourth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a 2-run single off Josh Beckett. It was his 79th hit of the season.
"I wish every win came this easy," said McNeil.
