Washington Nationals starter Pascual Perez pitched effectively against the Atlanta Braves at Nationals Park. The right-hander spearheaded his team's 2-1 win. Tyler Clippard picked up the save, his 14th. Washington is now 28-45.

Juan Soto, who leads the NL in bases on balls with 61, took Atlanta hurler Tom Glavine deep in the bottom of the first. His 2-run home run put the Nationals on top, 2-0. In all, Soto had 2 singles in addition to the home run, while going 3 for 4.
