Angels Get Dramatic 2-1 Win
Starting pitcher Andy Messersmith was a major factor in the 2-1 Los Angeles Angels triumph over the Texas Rangers. The win went to Troy Percival in relief. His record improves to 1-3. Fergie Jenkins took the loss. The Angels improved their record to 23-50 with the win over Texas.

The defining moment came in the bottom of the ninth for Los Angeles. That's when Bobby Grich hit a solo home run off 31-year old right-handed pitcher Fergie Jenkins to win the game. The home crowd went wild.

"The crowd went nuts," Grich said.
