Howard Helps Rangers Defeat Athletics, 7-5
The Texas Rangers stopped the Oakland Athletics, 7-5, behind an impressive performance from Frank Howard. The 32-year old first baseman made life miserable for Oakland pitching. He went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. The 4th-place Rangers improved to 31-41.

Texas used the hitting of Milton Bradley to pick up the win. The right fielder clubbed a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Rangers on top, 4-2. For the game, Bradley had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"We scored enough runs to win," said Howard.
