The Chicago Cubs racked up a win at Marlins Ballpark, bumping off the Miami Marlins, 2-1. Rick Sutcliffe, who started for Chicago, pitched effectively for his team. Chicago is now 36-35, Miami 29-42.

Chicago starter Rick Sutcliffe was exceptional. The 6-foot-7 right-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits over 8 innings of work.

"That's us at our best," Sutcliffe told the Chicago Bulletin. "Pitching and trying to prevent runs."
