Rockies Get Thrilling 7-6 Win
The Colorado Rockies withstood a good performance by Los Angeles first baseman Steve Garvey to knock off Los Angeles, 7-6, in 10 innings. Garvey was 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Colorado reliever Taylor Buchholz picked up the win, raising his record to 2-4. Takashi Saito was tagged with the loss. Colorado is 27-44 and Los Angeles, with the loss, 34-38.

Colorado won the game in part because of Todd Helton. The first baseman ripped a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Rockies ahead, 7-6. For the game, Helton had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.
