Philadelphia 42-27 After Beating Braves
|
Philadelphia Phillies starter Ron Reed was in the groove. He led his team to a win over the Atlanta Braves, 7-1. The Phillies saw their win-loss record go to 42-27. At the same time, the Braves fell to 39-31.
Scott Rolen had a big 2-run home run for the Phillies in the top of the first inning. With Philadelphia leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a circle change from 29-year old right-handed pitcher Greg Maddux and swatted a home run to left-center. It was his 9th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Phillies ahead, 3-0.
"Ron's stuff looked really, really crisp," said , the Phillies manager.
