Pascual Perez of the Washington Nationals spun his magic on the St. Louis Cardinals. He blanked them, 12-0, on 6 hits, registering 3 strikeouts and 2 walks.

"The bottom line was I just kept the ball down," Perez said. "My breaking stuff was down. Everything was down."

Talking to reporters in the postgame interview, Washington skipper said the team "got solid pitching, good defense and took great team at-bats in a lot of different situations."

"Pascual pitched really well but this was a solid performance by everyone," he said.

Thus far this season, Perez has tossed 75 innings in 13 starts, fanned 57 batters, walked 24 and put up a 5.40 ERA with 2 wins and 8 losses.
